Vision for an AI-Enabled Punjab
Dar emphasised that Punjab should not only lead within Pakistan but emerge as a regional technology powerhouse. According to him, integrating artificial intelligence across departments can streamline service delivery, enhance transparency, reduce inefficiencies, and promote data-driven decision-making. He described the goal as ambitious yet achievable with sustained policy commitment and institutional reform.
With a background in software engineering from leading UK institutions, Dar said his experience in technology and international business positions him to oversee AI-focused initiatives. Before returning to Pakistan, he spent over two decades building a successful real estate enterprise in the UAE
Addressing Political Criticism
Responding to criticism regarding political families in public office, Dar argued that individuals raised in political households naturally develop an understanding of governance and public service. He said scrutiny of political families often overlooks the challenges they face, including legal battles, exile, and public pressure.
He referred to the hardships endured by his father, Ishaq Dar, and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif during previous governments. According to Dar, court decisions later cleared allegations against his family members, reinforcing his belief that public service should not be discouraged due to political lineage.
AI Reform and Economic Growth
Dar believes artificial intelligence can reshape Punjab’s administrative and economic framework. From healthcare systems and education platforms to law enforcement and urban management, AI integration could improve efficiency while supporting economic growth.
He also highlighted the importance of international partnerships. Since the 2024 elections, he has reportedly facilitated engagement with global business leaders in technology and real estate, encouraging foreign direct investment and strengthening Pakistan’s global connections.
Social Advocacy and Public Engagement
Beyond governance, Dar has been active in autism awareness initiatives, drawing from his personal experience as a parent. He has used social platforms to promote inclusivity and support services for families affected by autism in Pakistan.
Why This Matters
Punjab is Pakistan’s largest province by population and economic output. A successful AI transformation strategy could set a national precedent and position Pakistan more competitively within South Asia’s rapidly evolving tech landscape.
If implemented effectively, AI-led governance in Punjab could improve institutional performance, enhance investor confidence, and modernize public administration, marking a significant shift in Pakistan’s digital future.
