Former prime minister Imran Khan was allowed to speak with his sons on Eid in a rare phone call from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, offering a brief personal moment during his continued imprisonment.
According to sources, Khan spoke with his sons, Kasim and Sulaiman, who are based in the United Kingdom, for around 25 to 30 minutes. During the conversation, his sons asked about his health, while Khan expressed happiness at being able to connect with them on the festive occasion.
For the call, authorities reportedly moved the PTI founder from his usual confinement area to a designated room before returning him afterward. The development comes after months of restrictions that had limited his communication with family members and legal representatives since late last year.
Imran Khan has been in custody since August 2023 and has faced tight controls on meetings and communication. The Eid call is seen as a rare exception, highlighting the human aspect of his ongoing legal and political situation.
Earlier, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan stated that any announcements regarding protest movements or negotiations with the government would be made by opposition leaders in parliament. He added that leaders Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas have been given the authority to decide future political strategies.
Gohar also dismissed claims that internal party matters were influenced by Khan’s family members, reaffirming that decisions are being handled through formal political channels.
The brief Eid interaction underscores the personal side of a high-profile political detention, while broader political developments surrounding Khan and his party continue to unfold.
