Asim Munir Reaffirms Pakistan’s Resolve to Eliminate Terror Threats Across Borders

Pakistan’s military leadership has reiterated its firm commitment to eliminating terrorism, emphasizing decisive action through intelligence-based operations while also highlighting efforts to maintain regional stability.
Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir stated that Pakistan will continue targeting terrorist networks and their infrastructure wherever they exist. His remarks came during a meeting with religious scholars in Rawalpindi, according to an official statement issued by the military’s media wing.
During the interaction, the army chief stressed the importance of preventing the use of Afghan territory for launching attacks against Pakistan. He called on Afghan authorities to ensure that their soil is not used by militant groups for cross-border terrorism.
Pakistan has also announced a temporary pause in its ongoing military campaign, Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, in connection with the upcoming Eidul Fitr and at the request of friendly Islamic countries. Officials clarified that the ceasefire will remain in effect for a limited period, but any violation or attack would lead to an immediate and intensified response.
Field Marshal Munir further highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the region, especially in the context of ongoing international conflicts. He underlined the role of religious leaders in promoting unity, discouraging extremism, and preventing the misuse of religious sentiments for violence.
The military leadership also made it clear that any attempt to incite unrest within Pakistan based on events in other countries will not be tolerated. Religious scholars participating in the meeting expressed strong support for peace, stability, and countering extremism, while backing law enforcement agencies in their efforts.
Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, launched in late February following cross-border hostilities, has reportedly resulted in significant militant losses and the destruction of multiple targets. Officials stated that hundreds of militants were killed or injured, and several strategic positions and equipment were neutralized during the operation.
In conclusion, Pakistan’s leadership has reaffirmed a balanced approach—combining firm military action against terrorism with diplomatic efforts for regional peace—while maintaining readiness to respond swiftly to any threats to national security.
