Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz held an important meeting with China’s newly appointed Consul General Sun Yan in Lahore, reaffirming the strong and longstanding partnership between Pakistan and China. The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors to support regional development and economic growth.
During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz accepted an official invitation to visit China and expressed appreciation for Beijing’s continued support in strengthening bilateral relations. She highlighted China’s role in major initiatives such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), defence cooperation, and efforts to maintain regional stability.
The chief minister also acknowledged the experience and diplomatic contributions of Consul General Sun Yan, noting China’s consistent efforts in promoting stronger ties with Pakistan. Both sides agreed to increase collaboration between the Punjab government and the Chinese Consulate, particularly in areas such as trade, infrastructure, energy, and information technology.
Emphasizing Punjab’s development priorities, Maryam Nawaz stressed the need for industrial expansion, improved logistics networks, and technical partnerships to accelerate economic progress in the province. These initiatives are expected to create new opportunities for investment and strengthen economic connectivity.
Consul General Sun Yan described Pakistan-China relations as a model of mutual trust and long-term cooperation. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Punjab through continued collaboration in key sectors.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthen strategic, economic, and cultural ties, highlighting the importance of sustained cooperation for future growth and regional stability.
